Artist: Burns Maxey |
Medium: Drawing |
|
Venue:
White Square |
Address: 86 Cottage Street |
Event: Fresh off her successful exhibition at Forbes Library, intermedia artist Burns Maxey will discuss and show the colorful and whimsical drawings of 'Easthampton Alphabet.' Maxey developed the stories that accompany each letter through research she did about the town (okay, city).
In a recent Advocate interview, Burns said 'Choosing the right stories wasn't simply a matter of finding the weird and wacky. I thought about what makes an interesting story, but when I printed them up, some also suggested visuals. There was the obvious, like a crime scene, but the mundane could still be interesting and visual. Like the potato chip factory [letter P] - it's not dramatic. But I like potato chips.'
Prints will be for sale and refreshments (perhaps potato chips) will be served. |
