Event: The Pioneer Arts Center of Easthampton is pleased to host the artwork and artist Peggy Melanson this September. Peggy Melanson is a two time cancer survivor and was chosen as Torchbearer for 2002 Olympics and awarded “Cool Woman of America” by American Movie Classics Television Network. She has received several Massachusetts Cultural Arts grants for her work as a mixed media, performing and ZENTANGLE artist. As a freelancer, she writes columns for several New England magazines and newspapers. Peggy is the designer and presenter of the “Finding The Courage To Create” creative writing and arts workshops for beginners. Next to her cat, “ T.O. Boo” she has fallen in love with the art of ZENTANGLE.
The Pioneer Arts Center of Easthampton (PACE) will be holding an artist reception from 5PM-8PM. Ms. Melanson will present a Zentangle creation workshop beginning at 6:00PM. This workshop is free and open to the public. |

He received his M.F.A. from Goddard College in February of 2009 where he studied painting, wrote and performed music, and illustrated a 300-page graphic novel entitled 'The Fetch and The Fool'. These many different projects produced several different style approaches. There are brightly painted Tarot cards, soft watercolor and pencil comic-book pages, and richly colored oil paintings. A selection of antique reproduction Oriental rugs by some of the world's finest weavers, Afghan Turkmen tribal weavers who have inherited the craft from their ancestors. They still make rugs the old fashioned way with hand carded, hand spun highland wool and vegetal dyes made from plants, bark, roots etc. This is the same way the antique masterpieces were made before the 1880's and the industrial revolution, machines and synthetic chemical dyes changed the way Oriental rugs were produced. |
