Past Art Walk January 10, 2009
Artist: Maggie Nowinski |
Medium: Painting - Oil |
|
Venue:
Easthampton City Arts |
Address: 43 Main St. |
Event: The paintings I have chosen to include at Easthampton City Arts, represent a sampling of work from the past four years. Making paintings provides a means to access and engage with the visual, relational and poetic aspects of conscious being. I see them as peripheral landscapes, puzzles, impressions of the structural world around me, and making them balances and inform all aspects of my studio practices.
My work is an emotional and conceptual response to my search for connections, meaning and communication. This inquiry occurs via natural and unnatural frequencies in the midst overwhelming circumstances of waste and the exploitive practices of consumer culture all of which leave an imprint on my body and internally and externally. While the subject matter of my work varies, my approach is always personal and exists in relation to my psychological and somatic self.

Artist: James A Whitbeck |
Medium: Painting - Oil |
|
Venue:
Lathrop Inn Art Gallery Event Time: 6:30-8pm |
Address: 100 Bassett Brook Dr. |
Event: Whitbeck, a native of Greenfield, enjoyed creating with the brush as a child. Then, as an adult, he discovered his family roots in the Netherlands. His paintings capture the richness and feel of the 17th Century, whether the subject is a sun-lit still life with well worn Turkish rug and glass of wine, or the dusky interior of a family barn sheltering a cow. Come celebrate the latest works of this American Realist's 'Still Life and Interiors.' |

'Robby plays & teaches guitar & feels very blessed for it. He is writing about himself in the third person since this is a bio! His primary focus is mainstream modern jazz, with a healthy dose of funk & blues & a foundation of improvisation beyond category influenced by free jazz, world music & ambient & natural sounds. His current goals include gigging & jamming with other musicians in creative projects, working with dancers & film & visual artist, travelling performing music & focussing on composing in more depth & more consistently. Peace.'
