Past Art Walk June 14, 2008
Artist: Terry Rooney |
Medium: Painting - Oil |
|
Venue:
Nashawannuck Gallery |
Address: 40 Cottage St |
Event: 'There's No Place Like Home!' This theme, which has resonated in Terry Rooney's work for years, has finally led her down the yellow brick road
to OZ.
As she began the first several pieces for the Oz body of work, she noticed that she kept painting pictures of the Oz characters from the knees down. She realized that she was channeling Toto and painting from his perspective!
The general public is invited to bring their 'ruby slippers' (any type of red shoe will do!) to the reception, and help celebrate the OZ story by participating in an installation piece during the Art Walk Easthampton. The artist has also invites the general public to come as their favorite character. This exhibition will also feature the collection of OZ memorabilia from Dee Michel of Northampton.
Follow the red footprints to Nashawannuck Gallery to the opening of OZ: from Toto's point of view. |

Medium: Drawing - Chalk |
|
Venue:
Easthampton Cultural Council |
Address: 43 Main St. |
Event: who: YOU! and the Easthampton Cultural Council
(open to all ages and all artistic levels)
what: a city-wide chalk celebration
when: June 14 ArtWalk, from 5 pm
where: Old Town Hall steps and sidewalk, 43 Main Street, Easthampton
why: bring the colors of the Mediterranean to your doorstep!
Airline prices too high? Exchange rate unfavorable?
Bring the art of the Mediterranean to Easthampton, in the creation of a mosaic of tiles in sidewalk chalk on the steps and sidewalk of Old Town Hall.
Creations can be simple geometric patterns, trompe l'oeil fountains or statuary, or simple blocks of color. Embrace your inner child and your inner artist, and make town hall worthy of an Italian palace.
The Easthampton Cultural Council will provide the chalk, but we need everyone's help to create a mosaic on the sidewalk of Old Town Hall!
