I began working my trade sitting in the back row of my grade school classrooms. The only thing more frustrating than being a poor student was when my teachers would stroll around the classroom interrupting my doodling session. I’d scramble to get the drawing hidden under school work. I did this right through college and I’m now a fast drawing, anxiety ridden adult who can’t balance a checkbook. But I’m making a living doing what I like.

I am a fine art photographer residing in Madison, CT. I work as a wedding photo editor/commercial assistant and exhibit my work throughout the New England area.

My work is inspired by the Buddhist concept of mindfulness, which consists of being fully aware of feelings and thoughts at the present moment in a non-judgmental state.

I'd rather you experience my photographs than just see them. I try to combine art and photography to create images that tug at somewhere deep.

What does an image make you feel, and why? And how long does this feeling last? I realize the best I can hope for is a momentary change in perspective and if I have achieved that, I am grateful.

My work is influenced by the historical advertising in traveling circuses and sideshows. Using modern pop cultural references and imaginary scenarios, I play with text and imagery in a painterly way, finding double entendres and curiosities in the language of signage. These paintings are a balancing act of heartfelt sincerity and tongue in cheekiness.

I won't do the third person statement this time. Most people know that the artist is the one that usually writes these things anyway. I went to art school in Connecticut. Paier College of Art, in Hamden. Nice place. Locally, I've done work for the Advocate and have work in a number of private collections and was recently shown by a gallery in Easthampton that no longer exists and have shown in other local galleries as well as galleries in Ct. I also like writing run on sentences. Lets see, what else.... I like toast. Probably more than most people. I hope you like my work. I sure do. Thanks for reading this. It makes my ego grow. Love, Rick PS Made you look!

Address:
116 Pleasant St, Eastworks Bldg, Suite 121
Event:
This series of images is the creative work of two photographers—BRUCE BARONE and VICTOR HOYT; each with a unique approach to their craft.

Bruce Barone's work is contemplative. He seeks the common thread that runs through the seasons. It is how a place changes, yet remains the same, that gives his work power. In this series of images of The Lower Mill Pond, you will find this subtle thread in the old posts, the distant mountains, and curve of the shoreline. You will also see the hand of time as it paints new faces on the scene. This is the anchor of the show; the theme that binds it together.

These are the two things that photography does particularly well: as realistically as possible photography allows us to relive or remember things we have seen through another's eyes. We may not have been to the exact spot, but we've seen something like it. We both recognize that fleeting moment and we remember what it was like to live through the long seasons. The photographer captures the scene in ways that catch the viewer's eye, yet there remains something to be discovered, unearthed.

BRUCE and VICTOR thank you for looking. What will you discover?

This series of images is the creative work of two photographers—BRUCE BARONE and VICTOR HOYT; each with a unique approach to their craft.

Victor Hoyt has a less thematic style. He is interested in fleeting moments. The way the sun casts a shadow across a railing, or a damsel fly pauses on a flower bud. Once seen, these moments become memory, fading briefly to be replaced by another, and another. The photographs provide a counterpoint to The Lower Mill Pond. They give the viewer a window into some of the beautiful places that surround our little community.
